All tea comes from the leaves and buds of the plant – Camellia sinensis. The individual character of each tea is a result of the region it was grown in, the part of the plant used, and the processing methods utilized. Green tea is heated early to preclude oxidation. The leaves are pan-fried or steamed to retain their color and nutrients. Green teas are derived from young buds and leaves plucked in early spring through summer and its taste is mild and delicate. Traditional Japanese Green Tea is steamed and dried without any oxidation. It produces a light-green infusion with a mild taste.
