This famous rare green tea comes from the mountains of Dongting near Wuxi, west of Shanghai. It is grown in an area surrounded by peach, plum and apricot trees. The tea absorbs the fruity aromas of the region and has a unique, delicate and sweet taste. This rare tea is made only once a year from the tenderest shoots – silvery down of unopened buds and one single leaf half unfurled. The leaf is tiny and comes out spiral shaped. Since this tea is so delicate and is curled into snail-like shapes, it had been given the name ‘Bi Lo Chun’ which literally translates as “Green Snail Spring”.
